FASBAT's Safeguarding Policy

FASBAT Musical Theatre Company acknowledges the duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and is committed to ensuring safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance and complies with best practice.

 

The policy recognises that the welfare and interests of children are paramount in all circumstances. It aims to ensure that regardless of age, ability or disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation, socio-economic background, all children

 

• have a positive and enjoyable experience of performing arts at FASBAT Musical Theatre Company in a safe and child centred environment

• are protected from abuse whilst participating in performing arts or outside of the activity.

 

As part of our safeguarding policy FASBAT Musical Theatre Company will

 

• have a designated safeguarding officer (Alice Jarvis). A designated staff member will act as the primary point of contact for any safeguarding concerns. They will receive appropriate training to handle such matters effectively.

• promote and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children and young people

• ensure that regular risk assessments will be conducted for all activities to identify potential hazards and mitigate risks to ensure a safe environment for the pupils

• ensure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities in respect of safeguarding. Training on safeguarding policies, recognizing signs of abuse and appropriate reporting procedures will be provided to all staff members

• ensure appropriate action is taken in the event of incidents/concerns of abuse and support provided to the individual/s who raise or disclose the concern

• ensure that confidential, detailed and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored

• ensure all staff and volunteers undergo thorough background checks before working with pupils.

• prevent the employment/deployment of unsuitable individuals

• promote a clear code of conduct for staff, volunteers and pupils to ensure appropriate behaviour and respect towards each other

• ensure that an incident reporting system will be in place to document and investigate any incidents or concerns raised

• ensure that confidentiality is practiced. Any safeguarding concerns will be handled in confidence with only the relevant personnel on a need-to-know basis

• promote communication with parents/guardians. Open communication channels will be maintained with parents/guardian to address any concerns, provide updates and ensure transparency regarding club activities

• ensure that clear procedures will be established to handle emergencies, including medical incidents, accidents or unforeseen circumstances during the duration of the session

 

The policy and procedures will be widely promoted and are mandatory for everyone involved in FASBAT Musical theatre Company. It will be reviewed, updated and evaluated to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

 

FASBAT Musical Theatre Company is dedicated to maintaining a safe, secure and nurturing environment where children can learn and participate in performing arts activities without fear or risk or harm. This policy will be consistently enforced and adapted as necessary to prioritize the well-being of our participants. Failure to comply with the policy and procedures will be addressed without delay and may ultimately result in dismissal/exclusion from the organisation.
